Thousands lost power as storms ripped across Greater Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (WXIX)—Thousands of Duke Energy customers lost power during several rounds of storms across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky on Tuesday.

Nearly 5,000 customers in southwestern Ohio were without power at the height of storm damage early Tuesday night.

That number was down to 2,000 by 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and it’s reduced to just a couple hundred Wednesday morning.

School resource officer had sexual relationship with 18-year-old student, sheriff says

PREBLE COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) -A Preble County deputy sheriff, who was working as a school resource officer, is under arrest and accused of having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student, Sheriff Mike Simpson announced Saturday.

Mason Williams, 26, is charged with sexual battery, tampering with evidence and dereliction of duty.

He is held without bond at the Butler County County Jail at Sheriff Simpson’s request.

Williams also is on administrative leave.

CINCINNATI (WXIX) -The Foo Fighters announced they will be coming to Great American Ball Park on July 25, 2024.

This is the first time the band will be performing in Cincinnati since drummer Taylor Hawkins died in 2022.

Cincinnati Zoo to add stormwater tanks providing nearly 100% of water usage for zoo’s habitats

CINCINNATI (WXIX) -The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is adding million-gallon capacity stormwater tanks underground on the new Elephant Trek habitat site, which will provide 98% of the water usage for the habitats, according to the zoo’s vice president of facilities and sustainability Mark Fisher.

This includes a quarter-million-gallon above-ground pool for the elephants.
